Origin and development of Zion Group of Schools – Alwin Memorial Public School
The school had a humble beginning as Vijay’s Nursery School in June 1986. With its steady and straight growth, it was upgraded to Higher Secondary in the year 1993. Now Zion Group of Schools has a good strength of over 13,000 students. There are three offshoots of Zion school. The first to be established was the school at Madambakkam, Chennai – 600 126, with the same name and with classes from LKG to Std XII. The second one with the same name was established in Hasthinapuram, Sembakkam, Chennai 64 and with classes from LKG to std X and the third is a CBSE school, named as Alwin Memorial Public School which was started in memory of V.Alwin, the beloved son of the founder. The AMPS functions at Indira Nagar, Selaiyur, Chennai – 73 from the academic year 2010. The opening of AMPS fulfils the long felt need of parents whose mother tongue is other than Tamil.

“Learn to Lead” is the motto of Alwin school. The lighted torch in the hand beside the open book, found in the school logo indicates the school’s untiring effort and unflinching faith in handing over the lighted torch of Zeal, Integrity, Obedience and Nobility of thought, word and deed in the hands of the students. The open book is the knowledge and wisdom that is imparted to the students. “Ampsonians” learn to lead a virtuous life, to scale the heights of success in life.
